congressman anh cao: recall attempt racially motivated
nooo ya dont say? we would have never guessed.this recall is moot anyway. thats according to louisiana attorney general opinion #09-0051 released on 05 march 2009, in response to a sec'y of state request:
Summaryyou remember back to 06 december 2008, the day congressman cao won his election as well as the ensuing days; how the national republicans were so ecstatic? congressman cao was heralded as one of the new faces of republican diversity and inclusiveness.
The United States Constitution has reserved to Congress the power to determine the qualifications of its own members and to expel its members when necessary. Because this is a power reserved for the individual Houses of Congress, the Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution does not reserve to the states the authority to remove members of Congress from office. La. R.S. 18:1300.1 et seq. are not applicable to members of Congress and any recall attempt to that effect cannot proceed.
it was a veritable cao-nacopia of joyousness. we just assumed that cao was a life long republican.
well as it turns out, a couple of days ago we were looking over the results of the 20 october 2007 elections and when we scrolled down to the district 103 state representative returns, we discovered that now congressman cao, the new darling of the republican party, ran in that election -- as a no party candidate.
although it could have been, we dont recall this tidbit ever being mentioned by the media before or after his "surprise" congressional election victory.
his previous no party status might help to explain his "i might be a closet democrat" crack that he made the other day as reported by the huffington post and others.
the huffington post didnt mention congressman cao's previously being no party and neither did kevin allman in his post for the gambit's blog to which editilla, by the way, left a very amusing comment.
it would be interesting to learn how congressman cao's philosophical and political journey led him from no party to the republican party in less than a year. we bet there is a story there.
louisiana secretary of state elections returns 20 october 200723 July 2009
christopher tidmore: anh cao has an opponent: juan lafonta
good! cao is a flake and a rino we hope that someone rides him out of his seat on a rail.
christopher tidmore just announced on his radio show that state rep. juan lafonta will challenge la-02 freshman congressman anh cao. according to tidmore, lafonta is real popular in the white, elite demcratic homosexual community, which is very wealthy and influential in the second district. also endearing lafonta to the homosexuals is that he has written the states hate crimes law.
others tidmore mentioned as running are state senator cheryl gray evans and gun-grabber state rep. cedric richmond.
certainly lafonta and richmond would make piss-poor congressmen. we dont follow the senate that much so we dont know anything about senator gray-evans but odds are that she sucks too.
maybe some more will throw their hat in the ring, cos anh cao is garbage and needs to go.

recall anh cao
State law doesn't provide for recall of Congressman Cao
Louisiana Congressman "Joseph" Cao can rest easy. The LA Recall Law does not apply to Congressmen.
Article X, Section 26 of the Louisiana Constitution authorizes the lege to provide for the recall of only state and local officials except for judges of court of record.
The statutes setting up the LA recall process adheres to the constitutional authority. See LA R.S. 18:1300.1.
End of story.
C.B.
www.thedeadpelican.comit seems that a group of, um, black "ministers" are a little upset over congressman, anh cao's nay votes on H.R.1 american recovery and reinvestment act of 2009; namely, his nay on house roll call vote #70.
this recall effort isnt surprising and we've never regarded congressman cao's "election" to be legitimate. to us it was just evidence that the criminals behind the electronic voting machine fraud got a little carried away with themselves.
like we're supposed to believe that a majority black, democratic district in new orleans of all places, voted in a vietnamese, rethuglican in place of a black democrat? and yeah, yeah, we know that bill jefferson is under indictment but thats beside the point -- this is louisiana after all.
actually, no election in louisiana (or anywhere else) should be considered legitimate as long as it was carried out on electronic voting machines.
so while we wish the "minister's" best of luck, we think that this recall effort nonsense is a waste of time.
instead, what they should be doing, is calling for an investigation into the december election while strenuously demanding the removal of electronic voting machines from their district and the entire state.

If there is one thing Rep. John Conyers did not want, it was premature news that his extremely dangerous new federal hate crimes bill (HR 1913) had been entered into the House Judiciary. A milder, shortened version (HR 256) was introduced in early January to take any flak against hate crimes legislation. The much more threatening version, HR 1913, contains all that is necessary to establish a hate crimes bureaucracy in America.
Shielded as long as possible, it has 42 co-sponsors and is a polished weapon for destroying free speech. Conyers wanted to stealthily introduce it just before spring recess of Congress last Thursday—to be rapidly pushed to victory when members of Congress return April 20.
Dishonest legislators avoid introducing alarming legislation amid the floodlights surrounding the beginning of a new session of Congress. They wait until the last minutes of a session, just as the lights are just being turned off! This happened in Canada in 1971 when their federal hate law was passed as MPs were literally departing for Christmas vacation.
Conyers must have been delighted at the lack of opposition from the mainstream religious right since early January. He knows most Christian "watchdog" groups won’t act until the final bill, with title and bill number, is established. This was the situation last week: virtually all such opponents were silent. Our NPN poll showed protest calls to Judiciary members down to a dismal average of one per day!
But on Wednesday my e-alert warned “Conyers Introducing New Hate Bill!” Its effect was electric. The next day, Republican offices reported receiving "many calls" objecting to Conyers' new hate bill. Already Conyers’ cherished legal weapon was being splattered with mud by the conservative right!
Throughout Thursday, Conyers must have had second thoughts about introducing his hate bill. Perhaps he thought to minimize the damage by not giving the hate bill a name and number. Even at 5:30 EST Thursday evening, a spokesman for Judiciary said Conyers might not enter it until April 20.
But on Friday morning, there it was: HR 1913, The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act. Although not yet posted on the government website, this new bill is undoubtedly identical to HR 1592 which passed the House in 2007.
Meanwhile, the religious right was beginning to awaken. Through my Wednesday article, discovery of the lurking hate bill was trumpeted all over the internet. Responding to my encouragement, many called those groups I had listed within "The Hate Bill Hall of Shame," asking why they were doing nothing. Result: Some leadership groups scrambled into action.
* Late Thursday night, WorldNetDaily published a strong article announcing Conyers’ hate bill. WND also links to a short but powerful video critical of hate laws, a recording of Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) speaking on the floor of the House in 2007. Gohmert, one of the feistiest hate bill enemies in the House Judiciary, is (like most Judiciary Republicans) vowing a bitter fight against the hate bills. Just like two years ago, they are powerfully energized by calls of protest and deeply grateful for them. They agree with NPN that the only sensible place to defeat the hate bills is in Judiciary, not the floor of the House.
* Although the spokeswoman for the California branch of Traditional Values Coalition told my research assistant Friday that she “didn’t even know there was a hate bill in Congress until yesterday,” TVC quickly posted an excellent, stiff call to action against the bill.
* On Friday, Concerned Women for America featured a gripping radio interview with a Canadian Christian describing how free speech has become extinct in Canada. While mentioning that there is a hate bill in Congress, they gave no details concerning the present threat from Conyers’ bill.
* WorldNetDaily’s article says “Tony Perkins of FRC was also busy alerting his constituents” to the threat of Conyers' bill. How that is happening is unclear since as of Sunday, April 5, FRC’s homepage still has no alert posted.
Over this weekend, the homepages of most large conservative groups (except TVC) remain barren of any warning. But expect that to rapidly change. Conyers’ evil hate bill is important news to the evangelical right. Every new right watchdog must be seen by their followers as taking action.
One caller last Thursday was told by Focus on the Family that they have suspected HR 256 was not the real hate bill liberals wanted; their plan was to take no action until the final bill appeared. Focus sets policy standards for a galaxy of Christian activist groups nationwide. I’m sure Focus repeated this defeatist message to many over the past three months.
I only pray that Focus, and all previously silent watchdogs, do not continue their three month "vacation" from the hate bill issue! They should not wait until Congress reconvenes April 20. Phone lines are often jammed when Congress returns. Conyers is the powerful head of the House Judiciary Committee and is backed by Democratic House leaders; together, they could move HR 1913 out of Judiciary and onto the floor in a few days! They've moved that quickly before. With feisty Republicans fighting the hate bill in Judiciary, there is hope. On the floor of the House, there is almost no hope of defeating the hate bill, regardless of protest.
We are already very, very late in this battle. Congressional offices will be open during business hours until Congress returns April 20. Evangelical and conservative leaders should instruct their millions of constituents to follow these general suggestions:
1. Call your members of the House and Senate at 1-877-851-6437 or toll 1-202-225-3121. Leave this message: Please don't vote for Rep. Conyers' dangerous new hate crimes bill HR 1913.
2. Call the state offices of your two US Senators and the House member from your district. Their names can be found by dialing the numbers above. The capitol operator will provide them after you give your zip code. Numbers for their state offices can be found on the internet or by calling your public library. Leave the same message.
3. Emphasize that there are powerful 10-minute videos at www.truthtellers.org-- must-sees to understand the danger of hate laws! Already, many staffers in Congress, both liberal and conservative, tell callers they are watching our videos. If this trend continues, the truth about hate laws will spread like a benevolent virus through Congress. Liberals will fear their hate bill’s humiliation by a sixth defeat and prefer to let it die in Judiciary.
God has given us a miraculous reprieve of at least two weeks to redeem our effort to save freedom. We should bow ourselves before Him in gratitude and cry out for His mercy and protection in this time of enormous legislative peril. Let’s anticipate the National Day of Prayer a month early by fasting and praying for divine deliverance. Churches must stand on Psalm 91 and begin prayer chains of intercession against the hate bill!
We must also do more than pray. We must take action NOW, knowing that it doesn’t matter how outnumbered we are in Washington, DC. When we fight with God for justice and liberty, “one shall chase a thousand.” (Joshua 23:10)
Watch the dynamic 10-minute educational video How to Kill the Hate Bills at www.truthtellers.org which explains how the two hate bills, HR 256 and HR 262, threaten freedom. Please tell the offices of members of Congress to watch it! Also at www.truthtellers.org, watch our gripping 82-minute documentary Hate Laws: Making Criminals of Christians.
Let the Anti-Defamation League teach you how they have saddled 45 states with hate laws capable of persecuting Christians, and spearhead attempts to pass the federal hate crimes bill: http://www.adl.org/99hatecrime/intro.asp.

uk: street preacher threatened with arrest for reading out extracts from the king james bible in public
miguel hayworth and his father john, chose manchester's st ann's square for an 11 am street preaching session on saturday 25 july 2009.
they were reading passages from the king james bible including passages from romans chapter one verse twenty-seven and first corinthians chapter six verse nine and ten and passing out "leaflets containing the message of the gospel.""At 2pm, I was approached on more than one occasion by several police officers who falsely accused me, stating that I was inciting hatred with homophobic and racial comments," he said.
the same thing is happening in america with hate crimes law. such as H.R. 1913 the new federal hate crimes law which passed the house in april. -- voted yes to by the way, by baton rouge's fluoride pushing quack doctor rino bill cassidy and new orleans flaky rino anh cao. cao also co-sponsored it.
"One plain-clothed officer, who was with the other two uniformed officers, said: 'It is against the law to preach and hand out tracts: preaching causes offence and handing out tracts is harassment and could result in an arrest.'"
Mr Hayworth said that at about 2.30pm a second officer confirmed that his colleague had accused the preacher of inciting religious and racial hatred and wanted to warn him that this was an arrestable offence.
The second officer, Mr Hayworth claimed, also warned him his actions were being videoed and recorded, and he stopped preaching.
it passed the senate in july as a ted kennedy amendment [matthew shepard hate crimes prevention act, formerly S. 909 and co-sponsored by katrina mary landrieu snellings] to H.R. 2647 national defense authorization act for fiscal year 2010 at division e, section 4701 from page 1059. click here to download H.R. 2647 in an 1158 page .pdf [1.98 mb].

la gop chairman roger villere is a hypocrite and a fraud
as everyone knows, yesterday the u.s. house of representatives voted 240 - 179 to "disapprove" of congressman joe wilson's "you lie" outburst at president obama during the president's 09 september 2009 address on health care to the joint session of congress.
not long after the vote, louisiana gop chairman roger villere issued a statement which was picked up and heavily promoted by the dead pelican. ~ link or screen grab, in which villere takes congressman charlie melancon (d) to task for voting for the rebuke.
congressman melancon is also an announced candidate in next years senatorial election against david vitter.
however, a closer look at house roll call vote #699 reveals that congressman melancon was not the only representative from louisiana who voted for the rebuke. the other vote was by flaky nola rino anh cao -- yet there is no word or mention of this by villere.
this failure on villere's part to rebuke louisiana rino's for their behavior is part and parcel of villere's incompetent (read criminal) management of the louisiana republican party.
when are louisiana republicans ever going to get a clue and clean up and run off the criminals like villere who himself is a rino who are running their party into the ground? why cant they see that villere and company are working a plan to destroy the la gop?
why wont louisiana republicans demand honest, respectable leaders as well as political candidates and elected officials?

Despite compelling and passionate testimony by House Republicans, the federal hate crimes bill, HR 1913, passed today in the House of Representatives by a vote of 249 to 175.
In what Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R, VA) called "an atrocity," the House Rules Committee on Tuesday imposed a "closed rule" on debate and amendments, limiting debate to 120 minutes. However, contest of the rule was permitted between both sides for one hour, giving Republicans a preliminary opportunity to lay out objections to the hate bill. They failed in their attempt to lengthen the debate, and the original 120 minutes of debate ensued.
Here are highlights of the Republican opposition:
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R, NC) said HR 1913 will open a new category of "thought crimes" in America, moving us "down a slippery slope" to loss of freedom. She said such has happened under hate laws in Canada and Europe.
Rep. Trent Franks (R, AZ) warned HR 1913 will end equality in America, giving special rights to federally favored groups such as homosexuals.
Rep. Roy Blount (R, MO) echoed Foxx's admonition that hate laws have taken away free speech in Canada and Europe.
Rep. Steve King (R, IA) repeated the warning of his amendment in Judiciary last week, saying pedophiles and many other deviants will obtain special rights and protection under HR 1913.
Rep. Mary Fallin (R, OK) referenced loss of free speech in Canada and Great Britain but also how the "Philly 11" Christians were persecuted under Pennsylvania's hate law.
Rep. Foxx returned, saying a federal hate law would preempt the 10th Amendment which delegates most law enforcement to the states. She said the claim that Matt Sheppard was murdered because he was a homosexual was a "hoax;" he was killed, she said as the victim of a robbery.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R, TX) charged HR 1913 will divide America into groups of more favored versus less. He again cited USC Title 18, Section 2a, the foundation of HR 1913, which says anyone who through speech "induces" commission of a violent hate crime "will be tried as a principal" alongside the active offender. He said there is no "epidemic" of hate in America.
Rep. King cited the American Psychiatric Association which lists 547 different kinds of paraphilia, or sexual deviancies. King said all of these would merit special federal protection under the class "sexual orientation" enshrined in HR 1913.
Rep. Foxx testified, "This bill itself will spread fear and intimidation." She was referring primarily to Christian/conservative critics of homosexuality, Islam, illegal immigrants, etc. Such critics from the pulpit or airwaves would be increasingly silenced under the hate law's chill on free speech.
Rep. Hastings (D, FL), a proponent of the hate bill, brazenly agreed that HR 1913 would give a galaxy of sexual perverts special protection. He said that under hate bill protection they will not "live in fear because of who they are."
One particularly striking argument was made by Rep. Randy Forbes (R, VA). He said if Miss California had slapped the homosexual judge who derided her on the stage (and across the internet) under HR 1913 she could be indicted as a "violent hate criminal," facing a possible 10 years in prison. But, Forbes said, if the homosexual judge had slapped her, she would have had no special protection under HR 1913. His act would have been simple assault, a misdemeanor.
The testimony of Rep. Todd Akins (R, MO) was also unique. He said HR 1913 would actually increase hate in America. He said the American people, including young people, recognizing that they are now second-class citizens, with homosexuals receiving special federal rights, can only resent (hate?) those who have rights and privileges above them. He also said that with the legal system already backed up, the federal hate law will create havoc within our legal system, requiring judges to also become "psychologists," divining motives of offenders.
Rep. Mike Pence (R, IN) said the FBI statistics show that, far from hate crimes increasing, they have steadily declined over the past 10 years. There is also no evidence that states are lax in hate law enforcement.
Democrat testimony concluded with a special entry, followed by CSPAN camera, of Rep. Barney Frank (D, MA). He pooh-poohed the arrest of the Philly 11 Christians in 2004, saying that, although it was unjust, Republicans were irresponsible in not pointing out that the Christians were acquitted. Fortunately, Rep. Gohmert had the last word, indicating that the very fact that persons can and have been arrested for speech under state laws has a chilling effect on free speech.
Gohmert tried to send the hate bill back to Judiciary for amendments but was overridden.
It is now time for all who love freedom to turn their full attention to defeat of the hate bill in the Senate, where Sen. Edward Kennedy just yesterday introduced his federal hate bill, S. 909, which is certain to be moving rapidly to a vote.
Call 1-877-851-6437 toll free or 1-202-225-3121 toll. Names of Senate Judiciary members are posted here at www.truthtellers.org.
Tell all members of the Senate: "Please don't vote for the pedophile-protecting federal hate crimes bill, S. 909. Please insist on Judiciary hearings to debate this very dangerous, freedom-threatening legislation."

NAB Pledges to Help Americans Prepare for New Digital TV Transition Date
February 4, 2009
WASHINGTON, DC — The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) today welcomed the House passage of legislation that will extend the deadline for the historic transition to digital television (DTV) to June 12. The U.S. Senate unanimously approved last week its version of the "DTV Delay" bill, which is expected to be signed into law by the president in the coming days.
"The legislation passed by Congress provides more time for Americans to prepare for the DTV transition and will allow more time for the government to fix the coupon program.
We appreciate members of Congress for their leadership and swift action in ensuring viewers get continued access to free, over-the-air television," said NAB President and CEO David Rehr. "America's broadcasters, which have spent the past decade preparing for this historic transition, are ready to make a successful switch."
Last week, NAB issued a statement in support of an extension, which continues to provide stations the flexibility to transition ahead of the June 12 deadline, consistent with Federal Communications Commission rules. ~ read more

anh cao was the only congressman from louisiana to vote aye
wow. if you cant tell that the america we always took for granted has been taken from us and turned into something totally foreign and if it wasnt so, then look no further than H.R. 3962. how could anything like this -- if america was still america -- be filed much less pass?
if it passes the senate and who knows it might -- all americans essentially become wards of the state.
it's because the united states supreme court in 1942 chose to fraudulently interpret the commerce clause in wickard v filburn and the feds as well as the several states have went along with it ever since. it boils down to the feds can regulate everything through the commerce clause because everything you do affects interstate commerce. and probably soon if not already -- global commerce.
most people havent realized this yet and so when they see things like:
What happens if you "willfully" do not buy insurance?they wonder how can this be?===
Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3] ~ democrats pass health care bill in the middle of the night
any state that wants to refuse it can do so (the county sheriff's have a major role to play according to this one) but then they run the risk of losing federal money which thanks to rulings like the above and the administrative rules that have grown up around them -- the feds dont have to return money to the states unless the states comply with federal regulations, even though its own citizens paid into the federal system in the first place.
so the citizens are going to have to decide if its worth it or not to continue paying federal taxes. that ought to be a real interesting debate. that's if anyone even has any money left to pay taxes with in the first place.
gold set another record high today with the dollar still wobbling. countries around the world are unplugging themselves from the dollar and switching to some other currency or buying gold - like india.
its like the government is trying with all its might to foment a revolution like what the trends research institute forecaster gerald celente has been saying all along. we'll have to see if he adds this vote to his lits of shots already fired in the 2nd american revolution.

wst... note: this afternoon, we received this unsolicited notice of fundraiser email from the committee to elect kristin palmer. we've often observed that if you want to get on lots of mailing lists just open yourself a blog.
we suspect though that in this instance ms. palmer's committee obtained our email address from a purchase of or an in kind contribution of email addresses.
we're not complaining about receiving "unsolicited" emails at all. in other words what we're saying is just because we post a political campaign (or any) press release doesnt mean that we endorse that candidate or, that, the candidate was expressly reaching out specifically to wst... to post something. unless otherwise disclosed.
disclosure: our real motive for posting this email is because after the election we're probably gonna add ms. palmer's website favicon to our collection.
anyhooo we logged onto ms. palmer's website and skimmed over it. it's not readily apparent to us what political party if any, that she belongs to. the names of the people who are hosting this event dont mean anything to us politically. the only name we recognize is of course mr. brennan, but we dont know his politics.
ms. palmer's committee says that she is a non-profit executive of over twenty years. has three daughters. shes into "building bridges and crossing boundaries."
she has some issues with "blight" on crime and safety ms. palmer wants to reduce the time spent processing non-violent misdemeanors by the police, da and criminal courts in favor of "encourag[ing] more arrests and convictions of violent felons." unfortunately she doesnt explain what she means by reducing the time spent processing.
ms. palmer is endorsed so far by the alliance for good government and the forum for equality. the forum for equality we've seen testify before lots of committees concerning various laws the lege is considering and if memory serves they're kinda kooky.

H.R. 1913 hate crimes bill passes house judiciary committee
Liberals Refuse to Exclude Gay Pedophiles from Federal Protection!
By Rev. Ted Pike
23 Apr 09
In a shocking conclusion to the second day of hearings on the federal hate crimes bill, HR 1913, House Judiciary Democrats rejected the final amendment of Rep. Steve King (R, IA) that "sexual orientation" in the bill specifically be defined as not including pedophiles.
Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D, WI) objected, saying King's amendment was "unnecessary and inflammatory." She asserted that "sexual orientation," as defined by the Hate Crimes Statistics Act of 1990, means consensual heterosexual or homosexual sex. That definition, she claimed, is sufficient to exclude pedophiles.
Before any Republicans could respond in support of this bold and essential amendment, Judiciary Chairman Conyers cut off debate, calling for an immediate vote, which upheld Baldwin. When Republicans objected, Conyers said he had not noticed them wanting to debate Baldwin's position, an absurd, unbelievable lie!
The truth is that a large percentage of homosexuals, especially males, are actual or potential pedophiles. From at least the time of the ancient Greeks, their ultimate sexual prize has been underage boys who "consent" to have sex with them. (In homosexual jargon, gay men are "chicken hawks," boys "chickens.")
The liberals promoting HR 1913 are determined, at all costs, to protect the entire homosexual community as the primary beneficiaries of the hate bill.
As we saw today, they were terrified of allowing Republicans to fragment federal protection of homosexuals into "protected versus unprotected" members. Such fragmentation would destroy their hate bill, dedicated to special protection of all homosexuals, regardless of degree of perversion.
They do not want the pedophile members of NAMBLA (the North American Man-Boy Love Association) to be deprived of the same perks and protection under federal law enjoyed by "respectable" homosexuals who cohabit only with adults. Homosexuals as a specific "class" must remain inviolate.
On the other hand, "straight" pedophiles who have heterosexual sex with little girls would remain without specially protected status, punishable under conventional law.
Rep. Gohmert in his remarks during the last several minutes of the hearing protested the committee's highhandedness. He objected to Democrats' denial of all of the large number of reasonable and constructive Republican amendments, but also the outrage of not allowing the distinction in the bill between child-molesting homosexuals and "law-abiding" ones.
He reiterated that "sexual orientation" can have the widest possible connotations within the term "homosexuality." Yet Judiciary liberals rejected such demand for specificity. They voted to pass the hate bill with such built-in ambiguity concerning sexual orientation so that any homosexual can claim special protection for his aberrant brand of perversion.
Clearly, the House Judiciary Committee has now sent a powerful message that all deviant brands of homosexuality are welcome on the federal hate crimes bandwagon. No homosexual, whether he be into sado-masochism, bestiality, transvestism, necrophilia (sex with the dead), or pedophilia, should consider himself outside special protection.
An irate Gohmert now predicts that any parent who physically assaults a homosexual pedophile attacking his or her child will become a federal hate criminal. Any young man who hits back against a homosexual hitting on him will become guilty of the "hate crime" of "bias-motivated assault."
Surely, if the hate bill threat has not moved you to pick up your phone and protest to Congress, the fact of HR 1913's implicit protection of all deviant members of the gay community, including pedophiles, should cause you to react with outrage.
Had enough? Call 1-877-851-6437 toll free or 1-202-225-3121 toll and tell your members of Congress:
"Please don't vote for Rep. Conyers' hate crimes bill, HR 1913, which refuses to specifically exclude homosexual pedophiles from special federal protection."

larry sinclair: defeat H.R. 1913 federal hate crimes legislation
excerpt:From a life long gay male who grew up gay in the Clan riddled south, gays today have no idea what it is to confront hatred and attacks just for being gay.
If the Gay community conducted itself in a respectful manner and not attacking, threatening, harassing, extorting and intimidating those who do not agree with them, then they will be treated with the same respect.
How can you display hate and attack people and then cry you need protecting?
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, wake up, because being gay does not mean one is a victim. ~ read more

louisiana now: jim mccrery accused of being a closet homosexual in new documentary
louisiana now blog, posts about a new documentary that "examines supposed gay politicians who live in the closet, yet support anti-gay policies." one such politician mentioned by the documentary is former louisiana congressman jim mcrery. ~ read more
this explains why lately we have seen an unusual increase in "jim mccrery + gay" googlers," to our post of 07 december 2007.
mccrery, a republican (naturally) did in at least one instance that we are aware of, support pro-homosexual federal legislation.
of course, none of louisiana's main stream media reported it. nor did la. gop chairman, roger "daffodil" villere issue any statement of condemnation.
just like in the recent case of pro-homosexual republican and quack doctor bill cassidy's as well as that flake anh cao's vote for H.R. 1913 the federal hate crimes bill a/k/a the pedophile protection act, villere and as far as we can tell the entire la. republican party "leadership" (if you can call them that) remained silent.

S.328 house rethugs kill dtv delay act
why the rethugs chose this bill to make president obama look bad, we dont know. the people that they're mainly hurting are the poor and elderly. we read in the memphis commercial appeal a couple of weeks ago that the "commerce department has run out of money for coupons to subsidize digital tv converter boxes for consumers. people who don't have cable or satellite service or a new tv with a digital tuner will need the converter boxes to keep their older analog sets working."
what would it hurt to delay the implementation of dtv from 17 february - 12 june 2009?
YEA 258 AND NAY 168
the bill required a 2/3 majority of 285 (currently 432 reps - according to the roll call vote) to suspend the rules and pass

CBO and JCT estimate that enacting H.R. 1 would increase budget deficits by $526 billion over the 2009-2010 period (about 19 months) and by a total of $816 billion over the 2009-2019 period.
The following table summarizes CBO’s and JCT’s estimates of H.R. 1’s budgetary effects; estimates for the legislation’s major components (by division and title) are presented in a detailed table at the end of this cost estimate.
Some of the bill’s provisions would affect cash flows for the Social Security trust funds and the Postal Service fund, both of which are classified as “off-budget.” CBO and JCT estimate that enacting H.R. 1 would increase on-budget deficits by about $817 billion over the 2009-2019 period and reduce off-budget deficits by about $1 billion over that period (see the memorandum at the end of the attached detailed table for on-budget and off-budget effects by year). ~ congressional budget office cost estimate on h.r. 1 via the congressional budget office, douglas w. elmendorf, director's blog.
