house roll call vote====
below is a few videos of the house floor debate:
rep. rickey hardy. rep. hardy who is such a puppet he has to have someone write a not very good speech. he starts off with some nonsense about the bill being akin to a heart transplant...then reveals his demented reasoning skills in that since "our governor just handed out to the richest man in louisiana eighty-five million dollars and another fifty million to a chicken farm plant." the solution is to tax the little people a mere fifty cents on a pack of cigarettes.
in other words, its perfectly fine to give money to the wealthy elites we'll just tax the little people to make up for it.
as far as the eighty-five million to the "richest man in louisiana" - he ultimately voted for it! see HB 2 house final passage vote. the "fifty million to a chicken farm plant" - he voted for that too. see SB 283 / act 1 house final passage vote.
ruston rino hollis downs. rep. downs - the more he talks the more he exposes himself as a republican hypocrite and a fraud. if he was an honest person he would change his party affiliation to either the independent or democratic party. rep. downs wont though because hes a criminal con artist who needs that R behind his name to keep tricking the hillbillies back home.
new orleans area democrat karen carter peterson. this is her closing speech. rep. peterson deserves the person who can stand on the house floor the longest and talk the most nonsense with a straight face award.

HB 889 nutty karen carter peterson resurrects her cigarette tax bill
louisiana healthier families actclick here to download seven page .pdf
fresh off from the defeat of her HB 75, this jaguar driving, none taking no for an answer, high-yellow sista, has reworked and reintroduced her cigarette tax bill going from four pages to seven.
apparently, the problem with peterson's HB 75 was that she didnt properly share with her criminal friends the tax money to be generated. HB 889 addresses this.related posts

americans for tax reform knows how to call a rino a liar
on saturday 06 june 2009 the so called louisiana republican party central committee passed a resolution "opposing all increases in taxes and fees including the cigarette tax."
previously, karen carter peterson a new orleans area democrat had her house bill no. 75 which called for among other things a one dollar per pack increase in the cigarette tax. that bill died in committee.
not to be out done, rep. peterson reintroduced her cigarette tax as house bill no. 889 this time calling for among other things only for a fifty cents per pack tax increase.
both bills are called the "louisiana healthier families act" or as we prefer to call them " karen carter peterson's increase convenience store smash-n-grab robberies, clerk murdering and black marketeering enhancement act of 2009."
anyway, on 08 june 2009, two days after the aforementioned rscc resolution, HB 889 came before the house committee on ways and means where it passed this time by a vote of 8 - 7.
two of the eight favorable votes were cast by republicans - rep. stephen carter and rep. frank hoffmann. if these two so called republicans would have obeyed the resolution (not to mention the republican party platform as well as everything that republicans are supposed to stand for) or if the republican committee chairman hunter greene would have bothered to have voted and voted no, then HB 889 would have stalled in committee.
not long after the committee vote americans for tax reform released the below statement where they actually name names. atr further reveals that rep. carter's word is worth squat because he actually signed a "taxpayer protection pledge" which by this vote he promptly broke.
we guess rep. frank hoffmann is an honest liar cause atr makes no mention of his signing the pledge.
click here to download one page .pdf [262 kb]
contrast atr's statement to what bayou buzz is trying to represent as gop chairman roger villere's "stern response.""On Saturday, the Republican State Central Committee passed overwhelming a resolution in opposition to tax and fee increases. Today, members of the House Ways & Means Committee, whether explicitly or implicitly allowed Speaker Pro-Tem Karen Carter Peterson’s tax increase to go to the floor. I’m disappointed by today’s vote, but I’m hopeful that Republicans and conservative Democrats will stand up for taxpayers and reject this regressive tax that will hurt Louisiana small businesses." ~ sourcechairman villere's incompetence knows no bounds. he doesnt give the bill number, he doesnt name names. he doesnt take the committee chairman to task for not voting. from reading his statement you wouldnt even realize that any republicans played key roles in the bills favorable passage. wtf?
why is an out of state group issuing far superior statements on the workings of the louisiana republican party than the republican party itself?
when are louisiana republicans going to wake up and realize that roger villere is working a plan to destroy the party? when are news outlets like bayou buzz as well as the states conservative talking heads going to stop covering for villere's incompetence and start speaking out?

audio of roll call vote
apparently, there was so many watching the committee meeting's video feed we couldnt maintain a connection so we had to record the roll call vote from the audio stream.
here is how the vote went down:so lets see we're in the middle of a global financial and economic meltdown. almost, if not, everyday we learn of businesses closing or laying off many people just right here in louisiana and the federal government is trillions of dollars in debt to people like the red chinese.
on motion by representative burrell to report HB 889 favorably to which there was objection:
voting yes for the cigarette tax and to report HB 889 favorably:
damone baldone - democrat
roy burrell - democrat
**stephen carter - republican
michael danahay - democrat
**frank hoffmann - republican
avon honey - democrat
girod jackson - democrat
harold ritchie - democrat
**we guess that these two rino's didnt get the memo
bayou buzz has a slightly different version here or screen grab here.
voting no against the cigarette tax and to kill the bill:
cameron henry - republican
rickey nowlin - republican
jonathan perry - republican
jerome richard - independent
joel robideaux - independent
jane smith - republican
ricky templet - republican
doesnt it make sense to you that if the louisiana legislature was comprised of honest, respectable people who truly gave a damn about the citizens of this state, that in these perilous times that they would be diligently working to reduce taxes and fees?
instead these criminals are steadily raising taxes and fees and creating out of thin air needless crimes to take away our freedoms with.
cant you see whats going on here? we have this bill HB 889 and HB 569 to place a tax on everyone's internet access and SB 335 to delay the stelly tax cuts -- all under the guise of the poor children -- which incidentally if they cared so much for "the children" then why did the house vote [HB 687] to take away poor children's in school dentistry?;
what these lunatics are doing is getting even with every demographic and socio-economic group -- some two or three or many more times over -- who helped to kill last years SB 672 their massive legislative pay raise fraud bill.
the louisiana legislature every last one of them is nothing but a bunch of criminals. they all should be horse whipped, tarred, feathered and run the hell out of louisiana on a rail.
then that giant phallic symbol that they all sit in and fuck us from, ought to be torn down brick by brick and thrown in the gulf of mexico.

grow your own tobacco and tell karen carter peterson; the fda and tax and spenders to go to hell
we were wondering if it was possible to grow your own tobacco and thanks to the power of google we learn that there is a place right next door in mississippi that sells tobacco seeds.
theres even a guy up in wisconsin who made a video about "one man's attempt to grow tobacco from seed to smoke." see back forty tobacco.
theres another site called appropriately enough coffin nails that sells seeds and has forums for backyard growers to exchange ideas and information etc..
money has no value. its just a piece of paper with no backing;
in a global depression the only things that will have real value are commodities, like booze, tobacco and dope. theres always food but lots of people will forego food for booze, tobacco and dope and those are the people that you have to look out for. so it might be advisable, whether you partake or not, to have some booze and tobacco on hand.

doofy rino hollis downs is a clown
on thursday, 28 april 2009, the house committee on ways and means met to consider two bills. the first bill that they considered was state representative hollis downs' HB 456, a bill that would require that the tax on gasoline, diesel fuels, and special fuels to be adjusted annually in accordance with the bureau of labor statistics consumer price index.
incredibly, it seems that everyone has already forgotten last years SB 672 the massive legislative pay raise fraud bill, which, likewise, tied the "legislators" pay raise to the consumer price index. see house floor amendments: amendments proposed by representative tucker to reengrossed senate bill no. 672 by senator duplessis.
this meant that the legislators would likely receive an automatic yearly pay raise of an unknown amount without any further debate or public input. out of sight, out of mind.
furthermore, since the cpi represents all goods and services purchased for consumption by the reference population like food and beverages, housing, apparel, transportation, medical care, recreation, education and communication and other goods and services for example tobacco and smoking products, haircuts and other personal services and funeral expenses.
also included within these major groups are various government-charged user fees, such as water and sewerage charges, auto registration fees, and vehicle tolls. in addition, the cpi includes taxes (such as sales and excise taxes) that are directly associated with the prices of specific goods and services. see cpi faq what goods and services does the cpi cover?
do you understand what a mistake it is in allowing the legislature to tie taxes, etc to the consumer price index? because the legislature either outright or working in concert with their criminal friends in city and parish government and congress can manipulate the consumer price index!
think of karen carter peterson's HB 75 dollar a pack cigarette tax.you might be a nonsmoker thinking that the tax wouldnt affect you but it does. every tax and fee affects everyone else.
any sane, rational person should be able to understand that if the legislators were willing to tie something as important to them as a pay raise to the consumer price index, then its not a good idea to tie a tax on all the people to the same thing.
in case you're wondering, yes, hollis downs voted for SB 672. see SB 672 house final passage vote of 13 june 2008.
anyway, we watched the committee meeting on the live stream and saw hollis downs make his ignorant statement criticizing the governor (you cant believe one word that comes out of the governor or his staff's mouth but in this instance he appears to oppose HB 456 and rightfully so) where he called on the governor and his team "to be leaders, and not just philosophers."
how dare this asshole, hollis downs, who claims to be a member of that party which stands for lower taxes, etc., etc., (you know the drill) and who brings this sham of a bill before the legislature criticize the governor for opposing it.
whats more, where is the republican party leadership at? where is roger "daffodil" villere with his scathing press releases at? why isnt he taking to task hollis downs for his very unrepublican bill?
and not only hollis downs there is also rino eddie lambert's HB 254 and rino's kevin pearson a jim tucker's HB 687. this is just two out of many bills that come to mind that an honest, respectful, authentic gop party boss (which roger villere is not) would be raising hell over.
villere instead of doing his job is off harrassing rep. karen carter peterson with a massive public records request. [click here for one page .pdf 18 kb]
roger villere is the sorriest excuse for a gop party boss ever. what he needs to be doing is getting a grip on his own party and calling out all the rino's that so infest it. but years have went by and he does nothing.
are louisiana republicans ever going to get a clue and realize that roger villere is working a plan to destroy the louisiana republican party? will they ever run his ass off and not only villere -- but the rest of the criminals who are killing the la gop? it sure doesnt look like it from here.
if you're a republican, grow a backbone. have some integrity for a change. speak out against these rino legislators and demand the removal of all these incompetent, corrupt criminals from the leadership. or turn out the light on your way out -- cos the republican party is going down -- the sooner the better -- simple as that.
HB 456 was voluntarily deferred that means that it can come back up again. so you better get on the phone and call your representative and tell him or her to vote no to HB 456 as well as HB 254 and HB 687.
dont bother emailing them because many of them just delete their emails unread.

sb672 louisianaians fighting back posting pictures of legislators cars online latest: karen carter-peterson
louisianaians continue to fight back to show the hypocrisy of the louisiana state legislature in voting themselves a 200% +++ pay raise.
maybe, just maybe louisianaians are finally waking up to the realization that the louisiana legislature is nothing more than a massive organized crime gang. they take away the peoples rights and freedoms and replace them with taxes and fees and create crimes out of thin air whilst at the same time rewarding themselves with lucrative inside deals one, just one, example being the reservoir scam and then arbitrarily award themselves massive pay raises for a job well done against the people and then have the unmitigated gall to call anyone opposed to their scams 'extremists.' well enough!

the swine in the state capitol might have the flu!
near the end of day 32 of the 2009 regular louisiana legislative session, state representative and speaker pro tempore, karen carter peterson used a personal privilege to complain about an incident that happened to her earlier in the day when she was over in the house judiciary committee meeting where she was carrying the water for senator mike walsworth and his SB 279 incidentally a bill on emergency preparedness.
rep. peterson woz freakin cuz seated next to her was louisiana department of social services secretary, kristy nichols, who was just coffin an weezin something awful. it was a veritable "outbreak" of coffin. it was so bad, that sec'y nichols blurted out famous last words: "i dont have the swine flu."
oops not so fast .... come to find out (later in the day when the test results finally came back, although sec'y levine let it slip that they had known since that morning) sec'y nichols (and four others in dss) did (or does) have the swine flu!
this led minutes later to a suspension of the house rules to allow department of health and hospitals sec'y alan levine and doctor jimmy guidry, the state health officer of louisiana, to come on the house floor and answer some questions.

HB 687 louisiana rethugs war on poor children dental care fails to pass house...for now
UPDATE: HB 687 to be reconsidered week of 26 may 2009
HB 687 seeks to prohibit in school based dentistry and makes absolutely no sense.

rep. pearson knows that what he is doing is not right but he is a puppet.
how in the hell did this clown get elected to the legislature? but then again, how does any of them get elected?
on the state legislature website he lists his occupation as a "financial advisor" and if you are one of his clients you just might want to reconsider who is handling your financial affairs or you might find your own children in need of in school based dentistry.
the vote was 51 yeas to 37 nays (someone changed their vote) but for some reason it wasnt enough to pass. there is a motion to reconsider pending.

picture of louisiana state senator ann duplessis mercedes benz
UPDATE: from the sunday 06 july 2008 baton rouge morning advocate:Duplessis: Photos of her car misleading
State Sen. Ann Duplessis said the legislative pay raise issue was skewed by those who do not believe elected officials are credible.
As an example, she pointed to the photo of her Mercedes that popped up on the Internet before the governor vetoed the pay raise.
Duplessis, D-New Orleans, said the car is part of her compensation package as a banker.
“It’s a 10-year-old, broken down vehicle,” she said. ~ source
heres a photograph (courtesy of brian mcnabb and the louisiana action council) of louisiana state senator ann duplessis' car. the license plate reads "senate district 2" senator duplessis is the author of sb672 the bill which will give louisiana legislators a 300% ++ pay raise.considering that senator duplessis represents the impoverished lower ninth ward of new orleans and seeing that the value of her ride is worth more money than many of her constituents will see in five or ten years or more, senator duplessis seems to be doing quite well for herself on the current legislative salary or maybe shes a coupon clipper or something. or maybe, someone needs to investigate her and find out where she got the money to be tooling around in a mercedes benz.

dishonest hit piece on helena moreno: fail
sooo both of these candidates likely suck.
they're the only ones on the runoff ballot too.. helena moreno was in a car wreck on 14 october 2002. she t-boned a car that ran through a stop. there was a fatality. whether the investigation then was a cover-up who knows but it doesnt seem likely.
ms. moreno was a repeater for a new orleans television station. she quit that ... and eventually ran against wm. jefferson. now she finished second primary to move into the runoff for dist #93 state representative to replace the big liberal tax and spender karen carter peterson; who was foolishly elevated by special election to the state senate after the resignation of cheryl gray evans.
ms. moreno's opponent in the runoff is james perry. mr. perry recently ran for mayor of orleans and at first his campaign tactics shook up the "elite" so badly that they had to bring in mitch landrieu. mayor landrieu at the time was the lieutenant governor.
in the fall there will be a statewide special election to fill the lt. governor vacancy. we had hoped that they would abolish the office at least until the regular election.
bananas foster a/k/a foster l. campbell, public service commissioner, recently has said there is a 50% chance of his running. we would strongly consider voting for him if there are no third party candidates to choose from.
the flamboyantly liberal rino jay dardenne certainly doesnt deserve it.
regarding rehashing ms. moreno's accident, orleans media makes it pretty clear that mr. perry and his operatives that fell far short with their reach.
so mr. perry, apparently and this part needs to be checked who filed an la. r.s. 44:1 et seq public records request to the new orleans police department traffic fatality unit.
perry operatives emailed it around to various orleans media outlets and this is the part that we dont like -- according to the lens, who apparently, filed their own public records request which runs to seventy-three pages and compared them:mr. perry's so called "summary." they found it left out some 15 pages of the official record.
yesterday, ms. moreno filed a complaint in civil district court claiming that
perry violated the state election code by making false claims about her, causing "irreparable injury." it asks a judge to order perry to discontinue the "damaging conduct" and fine him $500, the maximum allowed, plus legal fees.the tp says that no hearing date has been set down.
.... the other candidate ... the one who finished 3rd in the just completed primary ... is reportedly preparing his own fraud complaint against mr. perry too ...
louis charbonnett, iii, a lifelong democrat, and former state representative, told michelle krupa, a reporter with the times-picayune that mr. perry, on primary eve, passed out a flier which claimed charbonnett was a republican and he was in tight with jorge dubya boosh and piyush scam. LOL
so mr. perry is a freak. can you imagine this clown trying to talk shit on the state house floor? he's a con-artist now and would fit right in.
and all mr. perry has shown so far is that he is clever at lying and pulling scams. how is his gift going to help create a better louisiana?
we're not sure about ms. moreno either. maybe she's honest since she quit the msm.or not. ms. moreno is making a mistake though by canceling candidate forums and debates. she needs to face and show up mr. perry rather than play into his hands and appear weak. people are hesitant to vote for a dishrag.

air force to 'reconsider' its cyber command scam
word came out earlier this week that the united states air force has 'suspended plans to establish its much hyped cyber command program.' this cyber command was to be established at barksdale airforce base at shreveport, louisiana.
it never made any sense to locate cyber command at barksdale in the first place, as the obvious choice for its location should have always been within united states northern command [usnorthcom] at peterson air force base colorado springs, colorado.
more than likely whats happened is that the government has decided to run this massive domestic and international internet monitoring and spy program through one of its spook agencies instead of through the active duty military.
the government is probably afraid that after the military, a lot of whom still take their oath to the constitution seriously, finally catch on to what it's really up to -- will spill the beans.
a 'cyber command' has always been just another governmental scam. for instance, everyday we receive scores, if not hundreds of 419 as well as phishing emails as well as the regular run of the mill spam. this has been going on unabated for years. in fact its worse now than its ever been.
yet the government appears to remain clueless at catching whoever is behind all these online scams. phishing is a serious criminal offense too -- phishing is where someone sets up a website that looks like your bank or paypal or ebay, etc. website and tricks you into entering your username and password and other personal information which they then use to loot your account and/or steal your identity.these criminals even phish the internal revenue service and impersonate our servicemen and women fighting in iraq. sometimes they try to trick us into installing a .exe file in order to take over or use our computer to perpetuate even more scams.
so if the government cant with the resources already available to them or wont stop all this -- then what can they possibly hope to accomplish against professional "chinese hackers" who have all the latest and most powerful computer equipment and systems paid for with (thanks to americans addiction to all things walmart) american money?

lege committees to hold 'secret' meeting about reapportionment
c.b. forgotston sent this out a few minutes ago:According to a story in today's Baton Rouge paper ( story here) some of our leges are planning to hold a two-day, secret meeting (where all expenses paid by us taxpayers) to discuss how to reapportion the districts by which they represent us.
two committees planning to meet together in secret at alexandria at the "old england air force base" 01 and 02 october 2009, include:
The Clerk of the House says the clandestine meeting is legal. If so, it is only due to a "loophole" written by the leges in the Open Meetings Law.
The meeting was called by Rep. Rick Gallot, D-Ruston, who only recently escaped prosecution for violating the ethics law via a loophole he help insert into the law.
The meeting may be legal, but it is not right way to do the people's business.
Why isn’t it open?
This meeting is a part of the decision-making, process for reapportionment. What part of reapportionment is not the people's business?
[Speaker of the House Jim] Tucker said it is necessary to have the meeting behind closed doors so they (legislators) can have open discussions which could be otherwise inhibited.
In other words, the leges cannot be honest with the people they represent.
Do the right thing
The right thing to do is for all the leges invited to attend this meeting (which includes my representative) to refuse to attend unless the meeting is opened to the public and the media.
C.B.
UPDATE: forgotston has now posted this to his blog here
house and governmental affairs committee chaired by rob "heh heh heh ethics law" gallot; members: mert smiley, taylor barras, patrick connick, george cromer, michael danahay, noble ellington, brett geymann, cameron henry, girod jackson, rosalind jones, anthony ligi, karen carter peterson, erich ponti, stephen pugh, jerome richard, jane smith, charmaine marchand stiaes and wayne waddell.
and the senate & governmental affairs committee chaired by bob "the guy who helped destroy ethics laws" kostelka; consisting of senators, john smith, jody amedee, jack donahue, lydia. jackson, edwin murry and mike walsworth.
as you can see some very shady characters will be participating. the last thing we need is this crew meeting in secret to decide something as important as reapportionment.
so please contact your state representative and say no secret meetings! meet in a committee room or in the house chamber before the cameras and the internet live stream.

sb672 baton rouge rino erich ponti leads charge for massive legislative pay raises in state house
UPDATE: sb672 scheduled to be heard and voted on by the house on friday 13 june 2008
***********
UPDATE: 3:33 pm cdt: nutty ponti is already crawfishing - the dead pelican reports:
PONTI DOES 180 ON SB 672: " It was reported by WAFB-TV at noon today that I voted in favor of a legislative pay raise. In reality my vote was to send this legislation to the House floor in order to allow the full house the opportunity to debate and vote on this legislation. In its current form, I am opposed to this legislation and will vote against it on the House floor."
By Caroline Mosesone the one hand, baton rouge, rino erich ponti is pushing his hb1312 to raise the mandatory automobile insurance premiums on over one million of louisiana's poorest drivers in a time when gasoline prices are already over $4.00 a gallon and the economy is in disarray. this slap in the face of louisiana's poor is also fully supported by central louisiana's own ultra-liberal democrat and trial lawyer chris roy, jr. (a move that other trial lawyers actually thanked god for, so that should tell you who the bill really benefits) representative roy even went so far as to file his own bill -- hb1291.
excerpt:
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Legislators are even closer Wednesday to tripling their pay. They passed the bill out of the Senate to raise their base pay from $16,800 to about $50,000 a year. Wednesday morning, that bill flew through a House committee and is headed to the House floor.
House members voted for their own pay raises, like Tuesday night, in record time with little debate. The pay raise bill would normally not be up for debate until later this week on the House side, but some legislators are pushing to get it passed as quickly as possible.
Senator Ann Duplessis of New Orleans is sponsoring the bill.
Legislators would start getting that extra pay this July. Representative Erich Ponti of Baton Rouge voted FOR the raise in committee Wednesday. Only four committee members voted against the bill. ~ read more
then on the other hand, this shit-for-brains erich ponti is leading the charge to give himself an astounding 300% + pay raise. can you see yet what a bunch of criminals the louisiana legislature is?

louisiana legislators who delete their emails unread
in the 2008 regular louisiana legislative session, corrupt lake charles democratic state senator, willie landry mount introduced her senate bill no. 312 which calls for the mass medicating without informed consent of louisianaians by mandating the fluoridation of our water supply.
we didnt even know about the bill until we were contacted by an out of state group, you'd think that a bill of this magnitude would be reported on by every newspaper and television station in the state - so much for the main stream media keeping us informed.
the only reference to sb312 that we could find in the media was a short blurb in the baton rouge morning advocate paper in which they attempted to marginalize those opposed to fluoridation out to be conspiracy theorists -- this is despite the fact that many scientists, chemists, nobel prize winning scientists and other exceptional scientists and researchers from leading university's and institution's - you know, people that could hardly be called conspiracy theorists, have been researching and reporting for years on the health hazards associated with humans and animals ingesting fluoride.

'Up until the 1990s, no research had ever been conducted to determine the impact of fluoride on the pineal gland - a small gland located between the two hemispheres of the brain that regulates the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that helps regulate the onset of puberty and helps protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals.sb312 had already passed both the senate and house health committees and was before a conference committee.
It is now known - thanks to the meticulous research of Dr. Jennifer Luke from the University of Surrey in England - that the pineal gland is the primary target of fluoride accumulation within the body.' Read more...
like many others, we emailed and phoned the offices of the members of the conference committee but sb312 passed out of the senate.
that left the hope of stopping sb312 in the state house. so we emailed all the house members or thought we did. if any reps. name is missing its because we have never heard back or overlooked emailing them.
but see -- its pointless to email louisiana legislators. some, not all maybe, will just delete your email unread. if we hadnt requested a read receipt we would have never known the emails were deleted unread.
arent emails to government officials a public record? if so, then isnt deleting them the same as destroying a public record? aside from that, what this shows is that the legislature is not listening to the concerns of the citizenry -- and yet they think that they have the right to or are even intelligent enough to call for the mass medication of the citizenry by mandating the addition of a dangerous chemical to our water supply.
sb312 was signed into law on 06 july 2008 by gov. piyush "bobby" jindal.
look at the dates the email(s) were sent and the date that they were deleted.
